Gi class

Typically, each class begins with a warm-up, followed by drilling fundamental techniques, and concludes with live sparring rounds. The atmosphere is usually collaborative, fostering an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and uplifting one another during their learning journey.

During this classes, practitioners learn to use gi to their advantage, employing techniques such as collar chokes and sleeve grips. For example, when executing a bow and arrow choke, students can use their opponent's gi to secure the submission effectively. The pace in gi classes tends to be slower, which facilitates precision and timing—a key point for many practitioners.

Gi basic class

For newcomers, the BJJ gi basic class is an excellent starting point. This class introduces essential Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu concepts in a welcoming and structured setting.

In these classes, students focus on fundamental skills such as stances, grips, and basic submissions like the armbar or triangle choke. Safety protocols and etiquette are also emphasized to ensure a respectful training environment. Importantly, beginners learn about leverage and body mechanics, critical for successful performance in BJJ.

The supportive nature of the gi basic class allows beginners to gain confidence and progress at their pace, making them feel part of a community from the very start.

No Gi class

The faster pace of no-gi classes puts a spotlight on transitions and maintaining dominant positions. While the foundational principles of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu remain, the absence of the gi encourages students to think creatively and adapt their techniques on the fly.

No-gi grappling emphasizes speed and fluid movement, as practitioners rely on body positioning rather than grips. For instance, a common scenario is transitioning from a standing position to a single-leg takedown, where students must move swiftly to secure their hold without the aid of fabric. No-gi classes also draw from wrestling techniques, incorporating moves like duck-under and sprawl drills to improve performance.

No Gi basic class

Just like the gi basic class, the no-gi basic class serves as a fundamental introduction for those new to grappling or interested in the no-gi format. It covers core BJJ principles, but the techniques are tailored for no-gi situations.

Students begin by learning essential grips and positional strategies suitable for no-gi grappling. Techniques like guard passes and submissions such as rear-naked chokes are emphasized, showing how body positioning can be leveraged without gi grip.

In the no-gi basic class, a sense of camaraderie helps beginners feel comfortable despite the fast-paced environment, making every training session a chance to grow together.

Sparring

The sparring sessions are structured to ensure safety, with students adhering to the rules and etiquette of BJJ. Instructors may provide guidance, feedback, and adjustments to the students' techniques and approaches during the live rolling.
